Election of the Presiding Officer

Thursday 13 May 2021 2:10 PM

Details

The first meeting of the sixth session of the Parliament is now resumed with the election of the Presiding Officer. Only one nomination was received. Accordingly, as Alison Johnstone MSP was the sole nominee, the election shall proceed in accordance with Temporary Rule 1.12 of Standing Orders. Members may vote for or against that candidate or to abstain. The candidate shall be elected if a simple majority of votes in the candidate’s favour is obtained. Ballot papers should be marked with an X, before being folded. The clerks will then collect each ballot paper and place them in a ballot box.
